Description
Amaro Scoccia Karat is a Sicilian bitter liqueur resulting from a skilful infusion of precious Sicilian carob pods and delicate orange blossoms. The natural honey and caramel notes of the carob pods give it its distinctive, rich flavour and evoke the warm Sicilian sun.
Serving suggestion
It is recommended to serve Amaro Scoccia Karat well chilled, as a cocktail, or even at room temperature to flavour desserts, ice cream, and fruit.
The recipe
The main ingredients of Amaro Scoccia Karat are carob pods and orange blossoms (known as zagara). The carob tree is native to the Mediterranean region and Western Asia. The pulp contained in the pods has a naturally sweet aroma and remains long-lasting once dried. The main harvest season for the fruit is September.
Orange blossoms are particularly valued for their fragrance, which combines citrus aromas with a subtle hint of vanilla. Oranges, like many other crops, are believed to have been introduced to Sicily by the Arabs.
In terms of taste, the honey and caramel notes of the carob tree evoke the scent of the warm Sicilian sun. Beneath it grow the trees whose finest blossoms and fruits are harvested. This creates a perfectly balanced product with a brownish colour and a long-lasting finish on the palate. The delicate floral and vanilla notes of the orange blossoms, combined with a hint of citrus, perfectly round off the warm, sweet flavour of this herbal liqueur.
